Bus 511 to Sugar Loaf in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Bus 511 is the city bus to get to Sugar Loaf in Rio de Janeiro. The bus 511 (Direction “Urca”) passes along Leblon, Ipanema and mainly Copacabana neighborhoods, which are tourists’ favorites’ districts in Rio. Without a doubt, these are the most convenient and probably the best areas to stay while on vacation in Rio de Janeiro.

A bus ride on 511 takes approximately 10 to 50 minutes to get to Sugar Loaf, being Copacabana the closest neighborhood to Sugar Loaf, and Leblon the one farthest away. The bus ride time will, of course, depends on time of the day and your location in one of these neighborhoods. Beware that Rio has 6 million inhabitants and rush hour is approximately from 8 to 10 am and from 4 to 8 pm.

City buses in Rio de Janeiro are not cheap: R$ 2.75; US$1.35; €1.2 for a one-way fare. There is no tourist or day pass, neither there are double-decker buses that stop in every tourist attraction.

The 511 bus drops you off approximately 3 minutes on foot away from the Sugar Loaf cable car ticket office, in Urca neighborhood, in the unforgettable Rio de Janeiro.
