Great value. Strolling musicians play Italian songs (9 p.m. – midnight) tableside as you dine. Avenida Atlântica, 3056 – Copacabana – Rio de Janeiro. (Next door is The Clover Irish Pub [live music Fri.-Sat. nights]. Next to it is Devassa, for Brazilian draft premium beers.)

Lapamaki (Japanese)

Small, very good, often crowded. Menu, all-you-can-eat and per kilo options. Closed Mondays. Rua Bolívar, 7 – Copacabana – Rio de Janeiro. (For great wine and fine finderfood, Zot Gastrobar is next door. Live jazz on Tues. 7 – 10 p.m., cover charge R$15; US$7.50; €6.50. Open Tues. – Sat. 6 p.m. – midnight, Sun. noon – midnight.)

Stambul (Arabic)

Very good quality and an excellent value. Rua Domingos Ferreira, 221 – Copacabana – Rio de Janeiro. (The traditional Pizzaria Caravelle is next door. Alternatively, the up-scale Capricciosa, for fine pizza and pasta, is at # 187 [closed for lunch].)
