There are basically three steakhouses in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro: Carretão, Churrascaria Palace and Monchique (budget). All three are typical churrascarias rodízio (all-you-can-eat steakhouses) where the waiters keep bringing and serving beef cuts on your plate until you say ‘no more, I’m done!’.
You pay a fixed price to eat as many beef cuts as you can stand as well as to help yourself from the salad bar as many times as you want. Since the Brazilian beef is excellent, even a mid-range steakhouse might impress you in terms of quality of the meat served.
Drinks and deserts are not included in the flat price, and are usually rather expensive.
Churrascaria Carretão (mid-range Brazilian steakhouse in Rio de Janeiro)
All-you-can-eat at R$45; US$22.50; €20 per person (10% more expensive after 6 p.m., on weekends and holidays). Churrascaria Carretão is by far the best value for money when it comes to steakhouses in Rio. A proof of it is that you always see Cariocas (natives of Rio de Janeiro) eating at Carretão.
Even if you are on a budget you should consider making an effort to experience a good steakhouse such as Carretão.
If your budget is large enough to offer yourself an upscale steakhouse, then go for it (despite of the fact that many steak gourmets are completely satisfied with a mid-range steakhouse — except the service and salad bar variety that may be not as good).
