The entrance fee to the Sugar Loaf cable car in Rio de Janeiro includes a round-trip on both cable cars. After buying the ticket, keep it at hand as it will be requested from you several times (before getting in on each cable car – total of 4 times).
The car ride takes only 3 minutes and there are no seats. Each car holds 65 people and departs every 20 minutes.
The ticket you receive is good for any cable car and you can stay at either Sugar Loaf or Urca Hill summits as long as you want.
Bear in mind that the admission ticket is valid only for the day of purchase and costs 62 reais (reais is plural for real, which is the Brazilian currency). That is a rather expensive entrance fee, and most visitors (especially tourists from cheaper-than-Rio cities in Brazil) get surprised (and complain [in vain] at the Sugar Loaf ticket office).
In fact, the Sugar Loaf cable car round-trip ticket (which includes admission to the Sugar Loaf complex) is the most expensive attraction in Rio de Janeiro. All the other landmarks such as Christ the Redeemer statue on Corcovado Mountain as well as Maracanã Football Stadium have cheaper admission fees.
