Famous statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

The most famous statue in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) is the Christ the Redeemer statue, built on the summit of Corcovado Mountain, 30 minutes drive from the famous Copacabana Beach (Rio’s most eclectic beach).

The statue become world-wide famous at its inauguration in 1931. Since then, several other statues (not as high, or impressive) as the Rio de Janeiro’s one, have been built in other cities in Brazil, and in other countries. Either for religious believes or for sightseeing motives, unique statues do attract visitors. Apparently the higher the statue, the more tourists come to see it from close or even get inside.

Religion and tourism aside, most travelers agree that the famous Rio de Janeiro statue is an icon, a landmark, a destination not to be missed. Whether or not you like visiting crowded tourist sites, such a famous statue should be in your list. The one important thing about travelling all the way to Rio to visit the statue is that you don’t regret it. You may find the statue bigger that what you previously thought, or on the contrary, you may find it smaller than what thought — no matter what — you won’t regret visiting it because the statue is REALLY impressive when seen from close.

For tourists, not any time of any day is perfect to go see the statue. Quite the opposite, you need to beat the crowds, beat the clouds, and beat the traffic. To learn how to have a wonderful day at Christ the Redeemer statue, get a copy of
