How long did it take to build Christ the Redeemer statue?

Wondering how long did it take to build Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro?

It took five years to make Christ the Redeemer statue (1926-1931), although the first drawing and calculations started a few years earlier. Experts say that if Christ statue was built with the current technology and know-how, it wouldn’t take so long — probably would be completed in one or two years.

By the way, just as a comparison, the Statue of Liberty in New York took 13 years to be made.

Who was the architect-engineer who designed the Jesus statue?

The author of Christ the Redeemer statue was Heitor da Silva Costa, a Carioca (native of Rio) architect-engineer, whose project was selected during a public competition, held by the Catholic Church in 1921. He was also the project manager of all phases of the project.
