How to see Christ the Redeemer

Christ the Redeemer statue is a must-see when touring Rio de Janeiro. However, it is not only about “How to see Christ the Redeemer“, but also when to go seeing it. For example, the statue is frequently in the mist, which impedes in many cases the vistas of Rio as well as of the statue itself.

Tens of thousands of tourists don’t see Christ the Redeemer every year. They simply go up to the top of Corcovado Mountain at the wrong time of the day — the time when there is a huge cloud cover.

Although Rio de Janeiro has most sunny days, completely overcast does happen, and in many of the overcast days, the view of the city and of the statue can be completely obscured from the top of the mountain.

In other words, on those days, or specific moments of those days, can be a completely waste of time and money as visitors may see nothing but other tourists at the lookout atop Corcovado Mountain.

Besides the visibility and weather issue, tens of thousands of visitors have a hard time to get to the top of Corcovado Mountain due to the excess of visitors on a given day. To give you an idea, the current record of visitors is 14,000 on a single day!

Go seeing the Rio de Janeiro Jesus Statue can be a dream come true, or a total nightmare — standing in lines for hours, and still, possibly not making it to the top of the peak, or if making it, seeing nothing but clouds.
