Internet Cafe, Travel Agency and Post Office in Rio de Janeiro

You can find Internet cafes, travel agencies and post offices in the main Rio de Janeiro neighborhoods such as Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, Leme, Urca, Santa Teresa and Downtown. The Rio de Janeiro neighborhood maps found in My Rio Travel Guide gives you detailed location where to find these services at walking distance from your hotel.

Internet Café

(Also called Cyber Café or Lan House). Most of these places offer the following services: Internet (R$6; US$3; €2.60 per hour), Wi-Fi, scanning, photocopy, fax and international calls. Most of them are open every day from 8 or 9 a.m. until at least 10 p.m.

Travel Agency

(“Agência de Viagem” in Brazilian Portuguese). These agencies are mostly found in Copacabana and Ipanema. They sell, among others services, transfers and tours in and around Rio as well as flights to popular destinations such as Iguaçu Falls and Salvador, 1h30-2h away from Rio. Opening hours: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Mon-Fri, Sat 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Sunday and holiday closed.

Post Office

(“Correios” in Brazilian Portuguese). The most practical way to send post cards back home is by bringing them already written and handing them out to the clerk, who will tell you the total price (approx. R$2; US$1; €0.90 per post card), be in charge of gluing the stamps on all of them and forward them into the right outbox.

Opening hours are similar to travel agencies, although many post offices don’t open on Saturdays (the one at Av. N. S. Copacabana, 540 [in front of Praça Serzedelo Correia] is open on Saturdays 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.).
