Is it safe to visit Christ the Redeemer statue on Corcovado Mountain?

A visit to Christ the Redeemer statue on Corcovado Mountain in Rio de Janeiro is extremely safe. Both the Corcovado train station, where you board the cogwheel train, or at Paineiras, where you take the minibus shuttle, are very safe. Police permanently monitor both areas to ensure visitors’ safety.

The top of Corcovado with its views of the Christ the Redeemer statue and Rio de Janeiro is also 100 percent safe.

The vast majority of taxi drivers are honest and have newish new cars. The Swiss-made cog train is reliable and safe; there has never been an accident. The Mercedes minibuses are quite new and driven by professional drivers. Bottom line, you will feel safe during the whole Corcovado visit.
