Laundromat, Taxi Stand, Bike Rental and Souvenirs in Rio de Janeiro

Laundromats, taxi stands, bike rental and souvenir shops can easily be found with a Copacabana or a Ipanema neighborhood map in your hands. Souvenir Shops

(called “Loja de Souvenirs” in Rio de Janeiro). Most of the souvenir shops are in Copacabana. Opening hours similar to flip-flop shops.For more info, refer to Chapter 8 “Shopping”, in My Rio Travel Guide.

Laundromat

(called “Lavanderia” in Rio de Janeiro). Most laundromats in Rio charge by the clothes weight and are not the self-service laundry type. Usually, you hand out your clothes to a clerk, who will weight them on a scale, handle the wash and dry by operating the machines on your behalf, and hand you back the clothes later at a specified time. R$10; US$5; €4.30 per kilo/2.2 pounds.

Taxi Stand

(called “Ponto de Táxi” in Rio de Janeiro). You can check on the maps where the closest co-op yellow taxi stand is. You can hail whatever yellow cab in the street for short-distance rides, or you can pick a yellow one from a cooperative for long distances, airport and late night rides.

Bike Rental Shop

(called “Loja de Aluguel de Bicicleta”). You can locate on the maps where to rent a bike in Copacabana, Ipanema or Leblon. Opening hours vary from shop to shop.
