Rio de Janeiro by night. Note the Christ statue lit up atop of Corcovado Mountain.
Rio de Janeiro’s exciting nightlife is famous the world over, especially on the national vacation months December and January (local summer) when Brazilians from all over the country visit and tour Rio to get the most of what the city can offer, including dancing the night away. Many Cariocas (natives of Rio de Janeiro) join the crowd and turn night venues into a melting pot with locals, Brazilians, and foreigners.
There are classic Rio de Janeiro night tours that include dinner at an all-you-can-eat Brazilian steakhouse, and then a show that includes Samba dancers and singers, percussionists, Capoeira performers as well as Carnival dancers (in typical Carnival costumes). These night tours are fine, but it is unlikely to find locals on such places.
Instead of taking the typical tourists night tours (or to complement them), you can safely set up your own night tour night after night by taxi, or attend even two or three live Brazilian music venues on the same night (if you have only one single night in Rio de Janeiro).
