Self Guided Day Tours in Rio de Janeiro

You can explore Rio de Janeiro by planning your own self-guided day tours.  All you need is a good tour plan, an up-to-date itinerary for you to follow.

That’s why I wrote My Rio Travel Guide, a comprehensive travel guide to Rio de Janeiro, with an entire chapter dedicated to the independent traveler, who wants to visit Rio his way.

I have conducted more than 1,500 guided day tours in Rio de Janeiro. As a result, I have created an itinerary based on my large experience on what I know best — how to visit Rio without hassle, seeing lots of sites in little time.

Here is what chapter 3 of my guidebook presents:

The most popular 17 sites in Rio de Janeiro
I have finely selected them as a result of the level of satisfaction that I have seen on thousands of past visitors’ faces in the last years.

A detailed self-guided day tour itinerary
You don’t need to figure out how to move from site to site; I have done the thinking for you. The itinerary has been tested countless times and was built to avoid traffic and hassle. You will see a lot in little time, and still save money.

On a taxi
As Rio is big and many attractions are far from each other with no direct connection by bus or subway, the best way to move around is by taxi. As most taxi drivers don’t speak foreign languages, a translated itinerary in Brazilian Portuguese is included in the chapter, in a way that you just need to present the itinerary for him to follow along the day. You self-guide, and he just drives.

Calculated expenses
Taxi in Rio de Janeiro is reasonably cheap, especially if you are two to four to share the costs. In spite of it, the fares have been previously calculated so you will know how much each section of the itinerary will cost you. For example, if you are a party of four on a budget, you will then save a considerable amount of Reais (Brazilian currency).

Besides, the admission fee (and forms of payment) at each tourist attraction is indicated.

Mapped itinerary
A beautiful overall Rio de Janeiro map has been designed and it is included in the e-book.  This way, you can have a visual understand of what will be visited and in what priority.
