Sugar Loaf, Christ the Redeemer Statue, and Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro

The most famous attractions in Brazil are Sugar Loaf, Christ the Redeemer Statue and Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro. These three sites are a must visit when going sightseeing in Rio de Janeiro.

Christ the Redeemer, atop Corcovado Mountain, is by far the most famous Brazilian tourist monument in the world. The huge statue of Jesus was finished in 1931, built to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of independence of Brazil from Portugal.

More than 2 million visitors (natives of Rio, Brazilians from other cities, and foreigners alike) visit the sanctuary every year.  And don’t regret. Except, perhaps, those who stood hours in line to finally get to the top of the Corcovado Mountain, and see nothing due to poor visibility.

Sugar Loaf is an impressive 396-meter high block of rock right at the Rio de Janeiro bay entrance. The main reason to get to its top is to enjoy the marvelous views. It is a must visit as the views complement those seen from the top of Corcovado Mountain.

As the second most visited attraction in Rio de Janeiro, it gets frequently busy with tourists from all over the world. Visiting it at the right time and on the right day is a mandatory to have a smooth, hassle-free experience.

Copacabana Beach is the most famous beach in Brazil. White-sand, large and long promenade, beverages and food sold on the beach, locals playing sports, and other factors make Copacabana Beach an experience not to be missed.

However, Rio de Janeiro is not about only theses sites; there is way more to visit, to see, and to do. You can easily spend a week in the city.
