Taking a taxi from Rio de Janeiro international airport (Galeão / Antônio Carlos Jobim – GIG) to your hotel in Copacabana, Ipanema or Leblon is rather easy.
Bear in mind that the vast majority of domestic and all international flights in and out of Rio use this airport, so you will much probably land at the Rio de Janeiro international airport (GIG),
Taxi from Rio de Janeiro airport to Copacabana
As soon as you leave the luggage claim area at Rio de Janeiro international airport (GIG), you will come across five clerks calling out, “Taxi, taxi, taxi!” to get your attention. At their booths, they sell pre-paid taxi rides for the reputable special taxi cooperatives (co-ops) Transcopass, Transcootur, Cootramo, Coopartur, and Coopertramo.
The flat-rate from GIG to Copacabana on a special taxi costs R$99; US$49.50; €43. These firms are fine, reliable, and combined, they have hundreds of taxis.
Taxi from Rio de Janeiro airport to Ipanema, Leblon and other districts
As Ipanema is the district right next to Copacabana, not only the cost but also the taxi ride time is pretty much the same. The time, though may vary a little bit, depending on the route the taxi driver takes to get to your hotel.
Airport taxi rides to other Rio de Janeiro neighborhoods such as Leblon, Leme, Botafogo, Flamengo, Catete and Glória have similar cost. Airport taxi to Santa Teresa costs slightly less and to Barra da Tijuca costs slightly more.
