The best of Rio includes popular landmarks such as Corcovado and Sugar Loaf but also nightly entertainment involving the best Carnival rehearsals, samba and bossa nova concerts, moonlight strolls on Copacabana beach sidewalk, and more.
Rio de Janeiro has a lot to offer to vacationers. To give you an idea, many come back to Rio over and over again, year after year, to re-experience the same best sights as well as to discover — stay after stay — an unknown Rio de Janeiro.
Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer) and Pao de Acucar (Sugar Loaf) are in everyone’s favorite list. These two are probably among the best tourist attractions you will ever experience in your lifetime. They are a must. (Warning: do learn in My Rio Travel Guide how to visit these two the right away, otherwise you can ruin your experience due to the excess of visitors).

Eating at a typical churrascaria rodizio (all-you-can-eat Brazilian steakhouse) will be one of the best moments of your trip if you love a good steak. But be sure to be hungry to take advantage of the vast array of cuts they will be served to you until you say “I’m done”!
Among the best upscale steakhouses in Rio de Janeiro are Porcao, Fogo de Chao, and Marius. The best mid-range steakhouse is Carretao Ipanema.
Steak at a regular restaurant. A steak at a good all-you-can-eat steakhouse tastes as good.
Watching a Carnival rehearsal is one of the best experiences in Rio. Regrettably, the best rehearsals happen only on Saturdays from July/August until sometime in February. They usually start at mid-night, so plan ahead to recover from jet leg not to miss this vibrant percussion and dance performance.
What else is best of Rio? Hangliding! Rio de Janeiro is one of the few tropical cities in the world where you can jump off a ramp 500 metres (1,600 feet) above the sea level, fly in tandem over the city for about 10 minutes, and then land on the beach safe and sound.
Hangliding over Rio de Janeiro. Visitors do it in tandem with an instructor. Quite an experience!
