Top 3 Reasons to Travel to Rio de Janeiro — and Never Leave!

There are dozen reasons to travel to Brazil and visit the beach capital — Rio de Janeiro.  White sand beaches at literally walking distance from hotels, warm weather all year around, excellent and varied cuisine, safe (in spite of an old bad reputation), friendly and welcoming locals, great nightlife, and much more.

Let’s explore a bit more the top three reasons to visit Rio de Janeiro:

1 – Friendly and Welcoming Locals in Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro locals (called Cariocas in Brazilian Portuguese) are not yet tired of tourists. Why? Because the city receives very few tourists per year if compared to other major touristy destinations around the world.

Rio de Janeiro locals are not yet overwhelmed by the excess of tourists (because so far, there is no excess yet, except in major festivities such as New Year’s Eve and Carnival, but these two events last only a few days — not enough to bother locals [also because many of them leave the city in such festivities]).

As a matter of fact, Cariocas are proud of their cities, and easily brag about it with no hesitation. Regardless of your nationality, you are welcome!

2 – White Sand Beaches of Rio de Janeiro

This is definitely a plus in this city. Rio de Janeiro is on the beach, so to speak. If you love (or miss) a white sand beach, warm weather, beach and water sports, blue sky, and cold beverages… Rio’s beaches may be your play ground during your whole vacation. And the beach is free — you can lay down anywhere, as locals do.

The greatest advantage of staying in Rio de Janeiro on vacation is that even if you can not afford an upscale accommodation, you can still stay — not matter your budget — at one to three blocks back from the beach. Although you might not have an ocean view, you still have access to the ocean at any time of the day or night.

Wherever you stay in Rio de Janeiro — Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, or Leme — you will be at walking distance to the beach. And the beach is all year around as Rio is warm enough from January though December.

3 – Weather in Rio is Good All Year Around

The cooler months in Rio de Janeiro are April, May, June, July, August, September, and October. By cooler I mean on average 22-23 degrees C° (roughly 70-75 F°). In fact, there are way less people on the beach on those months, specially on weekdays.
