Boats for rent in Paraty.
Paraty is a historic little town on the coast of Rio de Janeiro State.
This tourist destination offers paradisiacal beaches on small islands as well as great dining, live Brazilian music, some nightlife, romantic atmosphere, and a charming historic central area with plenty of colonial buildings, cafes, restaurants, and shops.
Paraty is 3 ½ to 4 hours drive without traffic from Rio de Janeiro or from Sao Paulo. This fishing village has a lot of character, and definitely worth the trip. Most tourists stay two to three nights in Paraty.
Three nights are more than enough to explore the little town, its islands, waterfalls, its cachaça (Brazilian rhum) distillery, and wild beaches such as Trindade, 25 km or 15 miles from Paraty.
You don’t need a car in Paraty. There are local tour operators that can take you on a jeep to a couple of attractions at its outskirts. Apart from those, you won’t need to leave the historic center.
The farthest you need to walk is to the closest nice beach called Jabaquara Beach (walking time may vary from 5 to 30 minutes depending on the location of your hotel).
Another thing you can do by yourself it to walk to the harbor where you can rent a private fish man boat to do some island hoping (or, you can take an organized boat tour with dozens of other tourists from Brazil and from abroad).
Paraty has several charming pedestrian cobble stone streets. Beware that wearing high heels is not recommended in this town.
