Find money exchanges, ATMs, music CDs and flip-flops on Rio’s maps

Money exchange bureaus, ATMs, music shops and Havaianas flip-flops stores can all be found in the neighborhood maps of Rio de Janeiro, especially in Copacabana and Ipanema districts.

You won’t have any difficulties in finding these services by previously locating them in the Rio de Janeiro neighborhood maps.

Money Exchange

(called “Casa de Câmbio” in Rio de Janeiro). This is the place to exchange foreign currencies. Euros and US dollars are by far the most accepted. Others well accepted are British pounds, Swiss Francs, Argentine and Chilean pesos. Money exchanges have similar opening hours to travel agencies.

ATM

(called “Caixa Eletrônico” in Rio de Janeiro). There are plenty of ATMs throughout Rio. However, not all accept international cards. The ATMs indicated on the neighborhood maps are those of HSBC, CitiBank and Banco do Brasil as well as Banco 24 Horas (the latter usually found hidden inside drugstores, supermarkets, galleries and gas stations). Machines at these banks accept international credit and debit cards. Most ATMs operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Music Shop

(called “Loja de CD” in Rio de Janeiro). This is the place to buy CDs and DVDs of Brazilian music stars. Opening hours similar to travel agencies.

Havaianas Flip-Flops Shop

(called “Loja Havaianas” in Rio de Janeiro). The Brazilian flip-flops, especially the famous brand “Havaianas”, are sold even at drugstores in Rio de Janeiro! However, those shops marked on the neighborhood maps are those which are either the Havaianas official stores or shops that made the flip-flops the main product on display. Either one carries a large variety of models.

Most flip-flops shops in Rio close at 7-8 p.m. on weekdays and on mid-afternoon on weekends and holidays.
