Supermarket in Copacabana

There are several supermarkets in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro. Shelves are fully-stocked with a wide selection of Brazilian and imported items. You will find that some products at Copacabana’s supermarkets are cheaper than back home while others are more expensive.

Supermarkets are in general not cheap in the neighborhoods close to the beach, such as Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon and Leme. One exception is the frequently crowded Mundial, which you can locate on Rua Siqueira Campos, 71, in the heart of the Copacabana map (view map in My Rio Travel Guide).

Rio de Janeiro supermarkets opening hours:

Mon. – Sat. 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (some until 11:30 p.m.). Sun. and holidays until 5 p.m. (Mundial until 2 p.m.).

A branch of Pão de Açúcar supermarket is open 24 hours in Copacabana, another one in Leblon. Zona Sul supermarkets indicated by SM* on the map serve excellent and inexpensive pizza from noon to 11:30 p.m. Very popular among locals, including the author of My Rio Travel Guide.
