It is very easy to get to Christ the Redeemer from Copacabana neighborhood. Note that the statue is located on the summit of Corcovado Mountain in Rio de Janeiro. By bus – How to get to Christ by bus? The bus number is 583 (Leblon-Cosme Velho) and goes along all Nossa Senhora de Copacabana Avenue (which is the shopping avenue in Copacabana, parallel to Atlantica Avenue — the beach avenue).
The bus operates every day, all year around and you may wait at the bus stop up to 20 minutes. This bus does not stop in every bus stop; it stops only at the bus stops marked BSR 2, which can be found every three blocks. The bus ride takes approximately 40 minutes time from Copacabana to the Corcovado Train Station. There is no direct bus from Copacabana to Christ the Redeemer statue.
By subway – Copacabana has three subway stations, which are located approximately 3 to 4 blocks away from the beach. The platform at any of these stations is situated well below street level — it takes several minutes on foot to finally get to it. After boarding the wagon, it takes approximately 10-15 minutes to get to Largo do Machado station, which is the nearest station to Corcovado Train Station. To get to the train station you need to either take a taxi (5 minutes), a bus (15 minutes), or a stroll (30 to 40 minutes).
By taxi – How to get to Christ the Redeemer by taxi? Piece of cake! There are 32,000 yellow taxis in Rio de Janeiro; thousands of them circulate every day in and out of Copacabana. You can easily take one to the Corcovado Train Station (approximately R$20; US$10; €8 in about 20-25 minutes).

Getting to the Corcovado Train Station is easy. The problem is getting from the station to Christ the Redeemer on a peak day, when literally thousands of tourists want to visit the monument atop Corcovado Mountain.
