The first ascending cable car to Urca Hill (the half way hill to Sugar Loaf) leaves at 8:20 a.m.; the last descending one from Sugar Loaf leaves at 8:40 pm. Cable cars depart every 20 minutes, although the frequency may increase with the demand.
Warning: The last cable car (“bondinho” in Portuguese) going up Sugar Loaf and last one coming down may be an hour earlier on Fridays and Saturdays from December through March if there are special events such as night concerts at Urca Hill.
