Best month to visit Rio de Janeiro to visit Christ the Redeemer Statue

There is no best month no visit Rio de Janeiro — all months are good. There is no best month to visit Christ the Redeemer statue either — all months are good. However, there are a few points to consider before coming to Rio in order to turn your visit to the statue as success.

Visibility
The huge statue of Jesus, officially called Christ the Redeemer Statue, is located atop Corcovado Mountain, which is 2300 feet (710 meters) about sea level. At that height and at that location, the statue is frequently exposed to clouds, some huge and thick enough to block the visibility of the statue and of Rio de Janeiro for hours, if not for a full day.

So, before going to see the statue, you need to check whether or not there are clouds covering the statue. My Rio Travel Guide, a Rio de Janeiro City Guide PDF e-Book, offers several tips on how and where to check the statue out before heading to the station to board the train to the top of Corcovado Mountain.

Queues
You can visit the statue on any month of the year. However, some months are busier than others. It is not so much the month of the year, but rather the day of the week and the time of the day the matters.  For example, you should absolutely avoid visiting the statue when there are several large cruise ships disembarking thousands of tourists in the port of Rio de Janeiro.

Also, you should avoid visiting the statue when is long holiday weekend in Rio de Janeiro. Brazilians love Rio de Janeiro, and whenever there is a long holiday weekend, they take the opportunity to spend a long weekend in Rio. Usually, in these occasions, the accesses to the top of Corcovado Mountain are extremely crowded and chaotic.

My Rio Travel Guide was designed to guide you to visit Christ the Redeemer statue in the best time and day. In this guidebook will you find the dates and the schedules to avoid the crowds, and to have a hassle-free visit to the most visited landmark in Rio.
